The rebranding of a popular product is never an easy decision and is always undertaken after a lot of careful deliberation. The magnitude of the task is even greater when the branding effort carries over to the corporate brand as well. This is what is occupying our collective minds right now as we get set to transition from two of the most well-known names in the Indian HR & Admin space. There is a story to be told about the rationale behind the name change and here it is!
Most people in India associated with HR or Admin, and specifically concerned with issues like time and attendance tracking, employee engagement and HR systems, know of us as eMpower. Over the 8 years, we have been in the market, eMpower has become recognized as India’s easiest, most fully featured biometric, time and attendance management software, for the price. 500+ customers, including some of India’s best-known organizations, benefit from our products that are designed to create a complete, end-to-end solution for workforce management as well as security. Our corporate identity, SEED Management Services, reflected our proud heritage as a part of the Seed Infotech family – a multi-faceted group with diverse interests. So, what drove the new identity?
The world is changing rapidly, and so are our customers and their needs. We have always tried to think ahead to what our customer’s needs may be – those new products they may require, or those additional features that can add even greater value to them. We have consciously embraced the dynamism such an approach makes necessary. One thought that took root was to create a unified product and corporate identity that reflected this fresh thinking and was closely tied to those who benefit the most from our solutions.
This is a digital world – driven by Google’s search algorithms and dark magic. In that scenario, it is also evident that such a closely aligned identity would also help us become more visible to prospects searching for information about us online. After considerable deliberation, we all agreed – a change of name was called for!
The next step, of course, is what should the new identity be? After deep introspection and more than a few deliberations, we decided that the name had to tie in with the space where we offer the maximum value to our customers – the employee space, or the employee sphere. This led us to coin the word “emSphere” – a synthesis of these two words that reflects our area of operations as well as our solutions. Our solutions and services are specifically designed for HR & Admin functions of all kinds of organization, across industry verticals and across geographies. The new name checks all these boxes! Given the centrality of the solution to our corporate existence, we thought it only appropriate that “emSphere” should be the identity for our flagship product as well as our corporate brand.
Now as we look to the future we are conscious of the history, heritage, and goodwill that we are carrying over from the “eMpower” and “Seed Management Services” brand, but we are also confident that “emSphere” will only build on that history and create an equally glorious future worthy of that background. After all wasn’t it William Shakespeare who said, “What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”, and who are we to argue with Shakespeare
